Ageing [er] : proceedings of the 31st ESReDA seminar hosted by VUJE VTS, Smolenice Castle, Slovakia, November 7-8, 2006. European Commission. Joint Research Centre.
    Publication
    Luxembourg: OPOCE, 2007.
    Summary
The 31st ESReDA Seminar was dedicated to the topical and important subject of Ageing. The world is getting increasingly complex and we are becoming more and more dependent on man-made systems and environments. Failures and lack of function may have increasing consequences to an increasing number of people. In many areas pressure on costs or use of resources is growing. This is a challenge to every organisation – how available resources can be used in the most effective way. In this situation ageing is an ever-present issue. People are ageing, some knowledge is ageing, components and systems are ageing as well as organisations are ageing. This topic has technical, human, organisational, and mathematical aspects and all of them need to be considered in order to achieve good results. The seminar aimed to provide answers to questions related to ageing as: What are the problems we are facing? How can they be solved? What should be avoided? etc. These proceedings contain the twenty two high level technical contributions presented at the seminar.

International conference on future worldwide emission requirements for passenger cars and light duty vehicles and EURO V : proceedings. Session III, New fuels, engines and aftertreatement technologies. European Commission. Joint Research Centre.
    Publication
    Luxembourg : Publications Office, 2004.
    Summary
In order to improve air quality mainly in the urban environment, emissions from passenger cars and light duty vehicles have in the past been limited to some extent (EURO III/IV in Europe). The always pressing need to optimise health related problems arising from the inhalation of toxic substances emitted from these sources, has recently highlighted the need to further limit in the future car emissions, taking into account such toxic emissions. This conference will address both the scientific, industrial as well as political aspects of setting future emission limits for passenger cars and light duty vehicles in Europe and worldwide. It will bring together regulatory bodies, industrial stakeholders and scientists from all over the world to discuss the need and opportunities of harmonised emission measurement systems and emission standards and their effects on human health.
